EI Engine Monitors: Dealer and Installation at Gastonia (KAKH)
AGL Aviation Services is a dealer for Electronics International (EI) engine monitors, and we install what we sell. You'll find us on EI's dealer list in Gastonia, and the work is done in Hangar 3-98 at Gastonia Municipal Airport (KAKH).
Why an engine monitor
An engine monitor shows what each cylinder is doing in real time: cylinder head temperature, exhaust gas temperature, oil temperature and pressure, and more, depending on the model. Its biggest value is the trend data. Watching how the numbers change over weeks and months helps spot a sticking valve, a clogged injector, a baffling problem or an ignition issue early, when the fix is usually simpler and cheaper.
EI products we install
- CGR-30P: a primary engine instrument that can replace the original engine gauges with one display, on aircraft covered by EI's approvals.
- CGR-30C: a cylinder and exhaust temperature monitor that can sit alongside existing primary gauges.
- Other EI instruments, where they suit your aircraft and panel plan.
We'll confirm which EI system is approved for your make and model, which probes and sensors are needed, and where the display will go in your panel.
Installation
An EI install covers probes and sensors on the engine, wiring through the firewall, panel mounting, configuration, a ground run and a check of every reading. The logbook paperwork is done for you. If your plan is a full glass panel, we can compare an EI monitor with the engine display options in a Dynon or Garmin GI 275 installation.
Good pairings
- SureFly electronic ignition, so you can see the effect on your engine data.
- A PowerFlow exhaust, where approved.
- Your Mooney annual, when the cowling is already off.
